About the Artist

Christa Kent is a visual artist living and working in the scenic Okanagan region of British Columbia.
Combining a passion for art with a dedication to lifelong learning, Kent is primarily self- taught, enriched
by years of workshops, community classes, and formal training through the Milan Art Institute.
Before dedicating herself fully to her studio practice, Kent raised her family in Armstrong, BC, and served
her community as a teacher and social services worker. After surviving a kidney transplant three years ago,
she experienced a significant renewal of physical energy and creative purpose. This milestone marked a turning point, inspiring her to deepen her technical mastery and transition into a professional art career.
Her paintings have been showcased in several local galleries across the Okanagan. She is currently expanding her reach to a global audience through the launch of her online gallery and website, where she shares her vibrant new collections.
Artist’s Statement
My artwork is an exploration of vitality, resilience and the abundant beauty of the natural world. Living in the Okanagan, I am surrounded by magnificent landscapes and beautiful garden florals that have captured my heart and defined my creative focus. I am also a lifelong animal and bird lover— and I love to paint them!
My creative process is an energetic dance of layers. While I began my journey in acrylics, my current work embraces the freedom of mixed media. I build rich, complex stories on canvas by combining the raw energy of other mediums and techniques like spray paints, inks, oils, stencils and collage with my acrylics. This multi-layered approach mirrors my own life path. After retiring from my work as a social service worker, I was gifted a new kidney and a profound renewal of physical energy and creative urgency. Every animal, flower and landscape I paint is infused with this profound joy and gratitude. Through my work, I invite viewers to step into a world of texture and colour, and to feel the celebratory spirit of life renewed.
